The draws for the men’s and women’s competitions at the ATCO PSA World Series Squash Finals 2013 have just been released and fans coming to Queen’s Club 2-6 January are certainly in for an action-packed first three days even before both events head into nail-biting weekend of knockout matches.
With the women taking centre stage during day sessions and the men playing to the evening session crowds, there is something for everyone. English hope Laura Massaro has the honour of playing the opening match when she takes on Natalie Grinham of the Netherlands. Massaro has been drawn in the same group as top seed Nicol David, an indication of their form will be evident today when they face off in the final of the Cayman World Open
The elite field – which is made up of the top eight performers of the 2012 men’s and women’s World Series events – ensures that every match is of the highest quality. The format is based on two pools per draw, with four players in each pool who must play each other before progressing to Saturday’s semi-finals. From the last four onwards the tournament moves into a knockout format, with the champions crowned on Sunday.
