Prospects of an all-Pakistani final of the al khaliji PSA challenger in Qatar were enhanced when Adil Maqbool joined his top-seeded compatriots Danish Atlas Khan and Farhan Zaman in the semi-finals after two rounds of play at the Khalifa International complex in Doha.
Top seed Khan was sorely tested though, needing the full five games and a 12/10 in the decider win over Egypt’s Mazen Hesham Ga Sabry in an 82-minute quarter-final. He meets another Egyptian in the semis, Fares Dessouky who prevailed over fellow qualifier James Simpson in the quarters.
Second seed Zaman came through his two matches in less than an hour’s combined playing time, but Maqbool had to come from two games down against Basem Makram to ensure an all-Pakistani semi-final.
